The Foundation’s Mission

It is the goal of Beth Williams’ family and those who knew her so well, to honor her memory and fulfill her dream of bringing people together to make sure children have the best facilities possible to play the sports they love. The Beth Williams Field of Dreams Foundation will promote a message of uniting communities to help make the lives of children as active as possible through local team sports and other activities.

Building Athletic Fields
It will be the mission of this foundation to go well beyond Beth Williams’ original dream of one local ball field by sustaining an ongoing program of building and refurbishing youth athletic venues such as football and baseball complexes. By making more athletic fields available, the foundation will create more recreational outlets and opportunities available to children in their local communities. The result will be, in so many instances, healthier and happier lives.

Environmental Awareness
The foundation will provide communities with new recreational opportunities that also foster a deeper understanding of the natural environment. “Field of Dreams” projects will be built using a new, comprehensive land planning and engineering design approach that incorporates environmental considerations into all phases of the development process. It will be a goal of this foundation to help children and their families learn about new development concepts that protect local land and water resources and preserve the integrity of surrounding ecological and biological systems.

Funding the Projects
The necessary funding to build “Field of Dreams” projects will need to be raised through contributions from individuals and businesses and grants from public and private entities. With your support, the foundation will have an impact across the Richmond-Metro area, and in the longer term, with the formation of additional affiliates, take this important mission to communities across the Commonwealth of Virginia and then the entire nation.
